Burkey Construction was hired as Construction Manager for the renovations to the First Energy Stadium. The work under the main grandstand included the complete demolition and reconstruction of the home locker room, visiting locker room, front office area and main electric room as well as the construction of a new Team Store and a new women’s restroom. The additions included the construction of new concession buildings, new men’s and women’s restrooms, a permanent stage for live performances, and a maintenance/storage building. The scope of the project also included concrete repairs and a new waterproof coating to the main grandstand; new sports-lighting package; construction of a new 196-space parking lot; repaving of the existing lot adjacent to the stadium; and, construction of new entry and food court plaza.
The project was completed in less than seven months during the Reading Phillies off-season and during the harsh winter months.
