Berkshire Towers

Burkey Construction was the construction manager responsible for this historic renovation project.

The intent was to convert a 1913, 130,000 sq. ft. landmark hotel into office space on the upper floors and retain commercial tenant spaces on the lower levels. As this building is located in Reading’s Callowhill Historic District, it was imperative that it was restored to its original architecture.

Exterior renovations included reconstruction of the first floor windows, canopies, entrance doors, façade cleaning and cornices; interior renovations included elevators, elevator lobbies, ballroom and restaurant. The building’s existing mechanical and electrical infrastructure was completely removed and replaced with new HVAC, plumbing, electrical and sprinkler systems.
