Construction of the LEED-certified headquarters for The Berks County Community Foundation and Community Conference Center with Burkey Construction Co. serving as the Construction Manager. The facility is located at the corner of Third and Court Streets in downtown Reading.
The Foundation’s goal was to construct a facility that sets an example of environmental stewardship and to create a structure that is LEED-certified. LEED is an accreditation process designed by the U.S. Green Building Council, which honors the construction of buildings that are healthier for the environment and for the people who live and work in them. These structures are referred to as “green” buildings.
The facility consists of a Community Conference Center on the first floor, the Foundation’s offices on the second floor, and tenant and expansion space on the third floor. The structure represents the first LEED-certified office facility in Berks County.
