Burkey Construction was the general contractor for the construction of the St. Catharine’s Senior Apartments at 2000 Perkiomen Avenue in Mount Penn, PA. The 41,472 square foot facility consists of 35 one-bedroom accessible apartment units, five of which are ADA compliant. Also included are ancillary spaces consisting of management offices, community room, computer room, resident storage room, laundry facilities on 3 floors, and a common/sitting area. Each unit has Energy Star appliances, stained kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and plastic laminate countertops.
The building is four-stories with an at-grade under-building parking garage. Construction consisted of masonry bearing steel structure with precast concrete plank floors, and 4” brick over 8” CMU with ground-face accent bands. A glass storefront vestibule is accessible from the interior of the ground level garage. Utilities and sitework consists of the design and installation of new electric and water service to the property and construction of an underground storm water detention facility.
