Reading Hospital E2 – E3 Renovations

Burkey Construction was the general contractor for the interior renovation of the second and third floors of  “E” Building at the Reading Hospital & Medical Center.  The project was completed in two phases to accommodate the hospital staffing and patient needs for a facility that is generally at full capacity.

The project included minor modifications to 46 patient rooms to prepare them for the new Epic computer system, replacement of all staff and patient toilet fixtures, including new ceramic tile on wet walls, replacement of all floors, ceilings, and wall coverings in corridors and nurse’s work stations, division of ten existing shower rooms in half to provide new private showers for patients, modifications to the existing sprinkler system, and new staff lockers.

Burkey Construction worked very closely and in cooperation with hospital staff to assure smooth transitions before, between, and after each phase, and to guarantee a very aggressive schedule and meet all deadlines in preparation for all Department of Health inspections and occupancy approvals.
